Longest night walk this week. 4.29 miles over nearly twelve hours β€” must have been a double or a long overnight. When you’re in the NOC that long, walking isn’t optional. It’s survival. Your spine starts fusing to the chair around hour six.

I remember nights like this. You’d walk and troubleshoot at the same time, phone in one hand, pulling up traceroutes on the laptop when you got back to the desk. The park next to the building became a second office. Every bench was a thinking spot.

Louisville summer nights. Warm, sticky, alive with bugs. The kind of air that makes your shirt cling to your back. But it was better than the fluorescent hum inside.

Four miles. Not because I was training. Because twelve hours in a chair would break anyone.
