Parkland Lowlands Trail. The 1.9-mile section, out and back, which gets you to 3.7 miles and twenty-seven minutes of actual trail riding. A hundred and eighteen feet of elevation β€” real terrain, not just driveway ramps.

July 3rd. The day before the Fourth. Everyone else was buying fireworks and charcoal. I was on a trail in Parkland, winding through the lowlands where the ground gets soft and the trees close in overhead. It’s the kind of riding where you actually have to pay attention β€” roots, mud, turns that sneak up on you.

Had PreFeKt’s “Stars” playing. Synthy, spacey, the kind of track that makes a trail ride through the trees feel like a scene in something. Good pairing for a solo ride in the woods at dusk.

This was real riding. Not an errand, not a loop around the block. Trail, elevation, dirt under the tires. The kind of ride that makes you want to come back tomorrow.
